My Journey
My name is Kay Sanderson and I am often asked how I became a coach and Hogan Assessor, so here is my journey so far.
I have been involved in Education for over 25 years, as an academic, researcher, manager and project lead and in a variety of public and private settings both in the UK and Internationally.
My coaching journey started with the births of my two children, when I was at a professional crossroads and began questioning what was important to me and how I could create a better work/life integration.
I had many questions including:
- what were my values and was I being true to them?
- Should I take on the promotion opportunity being offered?
- How would I manage, children, work, and my PhD studies?
So, I signed up for a ‘Coaching and Work/life Integration’ Programme and quit my job and continued with my PhD studies. The outcome was by the time I had my second child 18 months later, I had found two business partners and set up my own coaching business and this worked well around my new commitments and studies.
Fast forward two years later and I had almost finished my PhD and was looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to return to academia presented itself. My children were in nursery and my studies completed, so I returned to university life and grew my coaching experiences into I worked for many years in the Middle East and developed my consultancy skills prior to returning home, with my family to in the Lake District, Cumbria, United Kingdom in the summer of 2018.
Upon my return I have been involved in facilitating learning and delivering training and development for the DofE and the ETF and have utitlised my coaching and education skillset to develop training materials for lecturers and have supporting many individuals and teams to gain clarity and identify their own work/life integration and find the right pathways forward.
Specifically, I am an accredited Hogan Assessor and I am fully trained to administer this diagnostic tool, used by Fortune 500 companies, to identify, develop and unlock potential in individuals and teams. I can combine this with coaching or simply use coaching on its own to assist you in determining your strengths, potential de-railers, motives and values.
I have worked with many nationalities and learning cultures and my own journey has taken me on many pathways, up and down mountains all over the world! I have an altruistic nature, am a good listener and I look forward to hearing from you.
